The turmoil in Buena Vista’s school district continues. After posting about this yesterday I received a comment suggesting I look into the $400,000 miss-appropriation of funds by the district. It was also suggested I look into the pay being received by the Buena Vista versus the pay being received by the more affluent community of Saginaw Township.
My response to the miss-appropriation was/is, this should be investigated and any criminal actions should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
As for the pay scales, I did a little search this morning but found nothing that supports a pay per student ratio. Most of what I found dealt with teachers pay scales in different districts, not what I was looking for.
Admittedly both these issues should and will be addressed by proper authorities.
But my main concern in yesterday’s post was not the graft/corruption or whatever that has taken place in Buena Vista school district. My main concern was and remains … Why does the state Governor give $15 million to a millionaire businessman in Frankenmuth and refuse to provide this school district with the few dollars needed to finish the school year?
And why does state Senator Roger Kahn support this refusal to provide help to those unfortunate children in his district?
Why punish the children for the adult’s misdeeds?
State Representative Stacy Erwin Oakes has a very good statement posted in Facebook today in regards to this mess. I urge you all to check it out.
