Itsy bitsy spider, childhood jingle?

When I was but a wee lad I remember singing this song, jingle or whatever you call it.

Going to repeat it here just in the slim chance that someone out there has not heard it.

“The itsy bitsy spider crawled up the water-spout

Down came the rain and washed the spider out

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain

The itsy bitsy spider crawled up the spout again.”

And repeat as necessary.

Of course this was accompanied by the hand gestures learned and copied by all us tiny tykes.

I have been told this is supposed to be an inspirational song for the children suggesting they never give up.

However, when I first learned and sang this song as a wee lad my impression was…

What a dumb ass spider, why does he keep going up the spout? I mean really, how many times does he have to get washed out before he decides there has to be a better way? Did he even think about maybe crawling up the outside of the spout or how about just crawling up the wall? Or maybe he could find a better way to occupy his time?

And this brings me to the fact that the U.S. House of Representatives have just voted for the 42nd time to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Knowing full well that it has no chance in hell of going anywhere, they continue wasting taxpayer dollars doing this.

What a bunch of dumb ass spiders don’t you think?

And now we hear that this same bunch of *RWNJs is going to fund everything in the government except the affordable care act, another losing proposition.  With future plans to not increase the debt limit unless the act is repealed.

right-wing nut jobs

And don’t get me started on the damage this same branch of kooks is doing in state governments.

Well, enough for today, the rain has stopped I think I will go out and crawl up the spout again. 😉

  1. For me, the analogy is that persistence pays off in the long run. Perhaps that’s the reasoning behind the numerous repeal attempts.

    • but my thoughts were, what is the spider going after and why does it not try a different approach.? As far as the rwnjs in congress they are gerrymandered into safe seats and are just trying to get more support for their misguided efforts. If Boehner had any guts he would work on a coalition with the Dems to get congress moving and throw the teabaggers under the bus. The most powerful union in the U.S., the Chamber of Commerce has sent a letter to leaders of both legislative branches asking them to “grow up” and do their job.
