Obamacare and the shutdown, what is going on here?

This healthcare law was written by a right-wing think tank; Heritage foundation years ago in response to Hillary Clinton’s push for federal healthcare when her husband was president.

The law was promoted by Republicans such as Bob Dole and Newt Gingrich. The law was passed and implemented in Massachusetts under Governor Mitt Romney.

This law is basically another bonus program for the insurance industry, much like the Medicare prescription drug program under Bush was a bonus program for big pharma.

The law requires all citizens of the United States to purchase health insurance, with government subsidies provided to those who qualify because of limited income. This in fact ends up being a government subsidy to the insurance industry.

So, why are the radicals in the House of Representatives shutting down our government in protest of this law?

In my humble opinion they are not really opposed to the health care law, some are actually just opposed to anything Obama. And some are pursuing their primary goal of shutting down the government, forever if possible.

The radicals currently in control of the Republicans in the house are basically anti-government Libertarians and this shutdown is part of their plan. They are now trying to put forth funding for only the items they deem worthwhile. Sounds good to some but, use caution here, the next item they will want to throw under the bus could very well be something you rely on. (Social Security, Medicare, Head start, education funding) and the list goes on.

Be careful what you wish for my Republican friends, be very careful.

  1. This is not good news. We can apply pressure (I just posted a petition to withdraw salaries from members of Congress during the shutdown) … a largely symbolic act. We can complain all we want, but the Gang of 15 who are well funded by big oil & even bigger corporations have achieved what amounts to a coup d’etat or putsch. A coup d’état is considered successful when the usurpers establish their dominance. What has happened and is happening in Congress is without question an impeachable offense. It remains to be seen what the results will finally be and whether or not they will be punished.
